Bacon vs. Tofu

The ongoing battle in the P&P office is Bacon vs. Tofu. As I stood at the stove this beautiful (albeit freezing) Sunday morning, making my beloved bacon I glanced up an saw mr. bacon looking rather pleased with himself while Sierra's mascot, mr. tofu, looked rather horrified. Round one to bacon... better luck next time tofu.

we heart poppies (obviously)

I was born in Louisiana (believe it or not) and I think it has instilled a hatred for cold weather in me. No matter how I slice it warm weather is always more fun! When I came across these photos I took at the farmer's market last summer, I realized one thing I am truly missing are our trips to the market on Saturday mornings. Only 3 more months to go...if we're lucky!
Enjoy your weekend and stay warm if you're in NYC!

Gearing up....

P&P is gearing up for wedding season and not looking back. We're so lucky to be working with so many wonderful brides that have a strong sense of personal style and creativity. From fun vibrant color palettes to unique design elements they're really allowing us to use our imaginations. Some fun inspirations we can't wait to use this spring, summer, and fall.

To all of our fabulous new brides we've met and booked this week, we simply can't wait to do your wedding florals and designs!

and now...the latest and greatest in Juliet's creations are her faux terrarium lamps! This one is sitting on our desk and it makes me happy every time I look at it. It's like a mini fantasy world in there...

A customized faux terrarium lamp can be yours for $120. If butterflies aren't in your fantasy world, just let us know what is!

My New Love Affair

(photo by davitydave and found at Aaaha Modern Living)

According to Wikipedia succulent plants, also known as succulents or fat plants, are water-retaining plants adapted to arid climate or soil conditions. Succulent plants store water in their leaves, stems and/or roots.
In New York City terms, succulents are a plant that can survive in some of the most sunlight deprived apartments! Although, this is a plus for me and my Williamsburg loft that receives sunlight for approximately 2 hours on only the best summer days, I also happen to LOVE succulents. I also adore herbs such as lavender, rosemary, mint, and basil but they have no chance where I dwell.
Getting married? Succulents make for an extraordinary element in bouquets, boutonnieres, and tablescapes too!

love vintage.

We've been busy bees over here for the past two weeks (always a GREAT problem to have). Unfortunately, this means that we have been slacking on the blog. You may have noticed our layout is a work in progress and becoming our online sketch book where we can share with everyone. We've also had a ton of really exciting news that I can't quite share because I am sure I will jinx it all. So, keep your fingers crossed for good things to come in 2010!

One thing I can and would love to share with everyone is an adorable arrangement Juliet put together for my boyfriend's sister-in-law's birthday this week. We found this vintage tin in upstate NY on one of our many antiquing trips. This is one of my personal favorites. When we saw these gorgeous ranunculus, hellebores, and chocolate cosmos in the market
we couldn't pass them by!

get crafty!

Juliet is a true crafter. She never ceases to amaze me with her creative ideas and willingness to tackle any project no matter the size or difficulty. Crafting catches like wild fire, not only am I becoming slightly obsessed, but all of our friends want a piece and I can't blame them!
We hand make most of our design elements for projects at p&p. Whether it is birch bark covered vases, menus, napkin rings, or seating cards we do it all!

Handmade items are way easier to find these days with places like Etsy. We love checking out the creations of all the other crafters and thought you may too!

Here are a few...

Every bride needs a good party dress! Ouma designs allow you to flaunt your secret or not so secret love for tulle with her funky dresses.

Brooklyn based LLubav Co's custom made ring pillows are so sweet I can hardly stand it. No matter what the season or color pallet she will create the perfect accessory for your wedding.

New Year's Eve Winter Wonderland

We both agreed that this year was one of our best New Year's celebrations either of us have ever had. With a crock pot brewing and home delivered wine/champagne we were busy bees getting ready for Melanie's fabulous New Year's Eve party.

Our design concept was to transform her already gorgeous/chic Soho loft into a warm winter wonderland with handmade birch bark vases, large mitsumata branch arrangements, and moss decorated votive holders.

We chose tetra anenome, ranunculus, peonies, thistle, curly willow, and citrus to create these arrangements. The flowers were spilling out of the vases as if it were a forest floor.

Stuart & Welch catering is responsible for the absolutely delicious cuisine that was served. Shrimp and grits, grilled lobster, and caviar were just a few of the items served to their guests.

What a fantastic way to start the new year!
