the sweetest garden

there is something very romantic and sweet about a garden. especially a garden that is a labor of love between two people. monkeys always look has the perfect little accessories for your garden. choose from the handmade items they already have or customize your own.
wouldn't these be perfect for seating "cards" at your wedding?!

dont have a garden? consider these adorable "teeny tinies".

a few of my picks

its a gorgeous day out here in nyc and i'm about to spend it with my family. they're all in from various parts and i'm very excited! i just wanted to share a few fun finds that i haven't been able to get off my mind.
i found this garden chair randomly while searching around etsy, which i do often. it's from gallantandjones' shop and would just be the perfect addition to any outdoor space.
i feel like most people at this point know about toms shoes, but i always come across someone who hasn't heard of them. they really are the perfect spring shoe and they come in amazing hues of light blue, grey, yellow and many more. the best part is for every pair of shoes you buy they donate one to a child in need. one for one.

last but certaintly not least, john robshaw textile's block printed shawl. on sale! 100 % wool so may be a bit warm for these summery days like today, but come fall this would be a gorgeous accessory to have.

i know at this point some would dare to say i post about the amazingly talented kelty of steep street all the time, but i don't think that is such a bad thing. so, when i came across her new postcards i really couldn't help sharing them with you all. loved partially for their name "spring flings" and mostly for their cute and quirky designs.

Enjoy Cupcakes!

I am loving this amazing cupcake bakery, Enjoy Cupcakes, run by husband and wife Amber and Kevin Vliet in Los Olivos, CA. They have wine country appropriate flavors, like their signature chocolate blackberry syrah, and an adorable vintage Shasta trailer that they will bring to your wedding or event choc-full of their yummy treats!

Wedding Tips for the Nontraditional Bride

Planning a Wedding in NYC Spring 2010

Every girl dreams of her wedding day. Except you. Luckily, we did the research for you.

Blooms for Every Stylethe orangerie wedding flowers nyc!
For a quaint, country approach, turn to Poppies & Posies. Partners Sierra Yaun and Juliet Totten arrange classic stems (poppies, lily of the valley) in wooden crates, vintage tobacco tins, and perfume bottles, and add unexpected elements like antique brooches.

Bonzie

Recently, while searching for something on etsy I came across this fabulous Irish designer, Bonzie. The line has some amazing pieces that would be great for a wedding!

I love this skirt! You could style it to make it bridal and then continue to wear it after the big day.
The collection has heaps of fabulous boleros! I love the sunshine yellow one in their etsy shop and this beautiful 'duck egg blue' one (pictured below). They would be great not only for the bride but for the bridesmaids too!

melissa (missy) murphy

today we'd like to introduce you to melissa (missy) murphy, the creative heart and soul behind missy photography. one of the parts of this industry i enjoy the most is meeting and getting to know all of the talented and creative vendors in new york city.

when the opportunity came up to ask her a few questions and get to know her a bit better we didn't hesitate. check it out and learn a bit more about her personality, style, and aspirations.

Name: Missy (aka Melissa or Mel depending on the person and their mood and the moment) Murphy

Location: The Big Apple

Company: Missy Photography

Who inspires you? I wouldn't say there is one but rather a collection of inspirers. I am inspired by other amazing photographers, old paintings (especially portraits), antique postcards of lovers, nature, beautiful things, an adorable couple deeply in love...

What is your personal aesthetic? My personal aesthetic is vintage/antique, romantic with a kick in the pants, embracing colors, and definitely eclectic.

If you could get married again would you style it differently? Ooooo, that's a tough one. I would a little bit but only at the reception. My Hunny and I were married so young, 22 and 21 and our entire wedding budget was $5000. Crazy, huh? Well, half of the budget went to photography (of course) so my entire wedding day bridal look was around $350. Even though it was almost seven years ago I still LOVE my aesthetic and think back on our day so fondly.

What accessory could you not live without? I found these gold hued glass studs in Idaho while visiting relatives and I am tempted to just glue them on permanently.

Favorite beauty product? Benefits Dr. Feel Good. It works miracles.

What is one thing people would be surprised to find out about you? I crave big city life and thrive in it but I deeply desire the following pets: a couple goats, a pot belly pig, and a herd of ducks...just to mention a few.

Do you have any new ventures you'd like to share with us? I do! I am crazy excited about taking on bridal styling (this can also include groom and bridal party). My clients can choose the level of styling they desire. I am having a blast and it is something I always had the knack for. My styling goal is to achieve my clients' 'day of' aesthetic and help them look their best.

Other fun facts, jokes, etc you can share with us? I am obsessed with my Blackberry's Dictionary Word of the Day application. I would like to say I enjoy deep brooding books the best, but I am a sucker for a good mystery. In my humble opinion, The Golden Girls is the funniest sitcom ever invented.

wedding inspiration

a few weeks ago a bunch of fantastic nyc based designers, chefs, bakers, and others got together to create an inspiration wedding shoot. this was such a fun process and i could not love the images that oh darling photography took for us more than i already do.
we are so grateful to grace for featuring a selection of the shoot on design sponge this morning!

below are some of the vendors/shots that are equally as stunning and we couldn't fit in the ds post. enjoy!

first up is the delicious food (i know because we were lucky enough to taste it) cooked up by stuart and welch catering. spring sweet pea risotto, foraged mushrooms, quail egg, and topped with cepes and yellow oyster mushrooms.

next is janelle sing, an incredibly talented emerging designer. i guarantee you will be seeing her creations everywhere one day soon. she handcrafted this clutch for the shoot and hand painted all of the detail!

we were thrilled to have lauren napier on set doing all of the makeup for the models. she is such a pleasure to work with and her talents sure speak for themselves in these gorgeous photos.

amanda, the heart and soul behind untamed petals gave us a huge array of fantastic accessories to choose from. we wish we could have used them all, but everyone on set fell in love with this gorgeous hair flower seen in these photos.

adele wechsler shipped us a few gorgeous dresses from her eco couture line all the way from canada.
