Locally Grown!

My favorite place in the world is my family's cabin on the coast of Maine. I was super lucky and got spend a couple of weeks there this summer away from all the hullabaloo in NY. I started to notice all of the amazing wild flowers and berries surrounding my house and decided I had to play with them in some bouquets.

So I bought zinnias and some dill weed (I love it's fluffy neon green look) at the local farm stand and added unripe wild blackberries, a few 'yet to be identified' weeds, and hydrangea all from the back forty at our cabin.

Gorgeous!... and it's all local which I love!

Green Thumbs

As you can tell from our last post, and pretty much every event we do, here at p&p we are totally obsessed with gardens. Sierra and I both had very green thumbed parents and have extracted a lot of our design aesthetic from them. Here is a table 'runner' arrangement we created using sheet moss, sweet pea, and ranunculus (one of my absolute favorite flowers).

p&p party planner: cute couture!

Wow you're pregger friends or treat yourself to the kind of baby shower you know will keep them talking about what a 'yummy mummy' you are! Have a make.your.own.onesie station. It's a great way to utilize your guests craftiness and provide the baby on board with a collection of fabulous, one of a kind threads. Think outside of the puff paint and marker box and use pretty ribbon, mini rosettes, and iron on decals.

Deep Water... kind of

A few months ago we teamed up with our favorite catering company, Stuart and Welch, (check them out at http://www.stuartandwelch.com) to put together their launch party here in the city... more on that later. In the process of designing the party Sierra and I got a little carried away and decided we wanted to bring the outdoors in... and what better way to do that than to build a pond? So we embarked on a major floral design adventure...

We built a base for our pond out of floral foam and chicken wire and then attached pond liner through the center. Here we have started to add florals to the structure.

To make it look straight from the garden we use sheet moss to cover our mechanics.

Here we are having a little dip.

Voila! The final product at the event! Don't you want to just dive in?

Wonderland!

This weekend P&P did an Alice In Wonderland.esque wedding here in the city. We loved working with such fun colors to create a fairytale garden feel!

For the bride's bouquet we softened the brightness of the other flowers by using big fluffy peonies as the focal flower. We also mixed it up a bit with some gorgeous green parrot tulips and lots of blue hydrangea. Seeded eucalyptus throughout made for a more romantic, airy feel.

Check out that gorgeous parrot tulip in this bridesmaid's bouquet... Isn't it to die for?

We used sandersonia, ivy and orchid in the chair arrangements to keep them feeling fresh and wildflower inspired.
The centerpieces were designed in the same summery palette as the bridal parties bouquets. We kept the arrangements loose and free in shallow garden bowls.

Wedding on the Hudson

This wedding was so much fun! It took place in the banks of the Hudson River under a grove of weeping willows... later on the reception was held in a charmingly rustic camp lodge with big windows that overlooked the water.

Sierra and I decided to pay homage to summer and use less.than.ripe blueberries in our boutonnieres!

Instead of using traditional floral centerpieces we potted herbs in pretty patina buckets so that guests could take them home and plant them. The one exception was the head table that was covered in lilacs (the bride's favorite)! We also replaced the traditional water and wine glasses with mason jars in various sizes. The groom's mum is an avid canner and is going to use them for jam this year!

For the place cards we decided to kill two birds with one stone and have them double as favors... each consisted of a tiny bucket filled with potting soil and a handmade seed packet/placecard filled with sweet basil seeds!
