A walk in the park!

We are very excited for this upcoming weekend full of beautiful wedding flowers and can't wait to share what we've been working on with all of you! In the meantime I couldn't resist sharing the gorgeous rose I saw while walking my dog by the hudson river this morning. Please excuse the less than wonderful photograph!

sara & andy get hitched!

we tend to fall in love with all of the couples we work with, but there are always a few that are really special to us. we met sara & andy almost two years ago now, when we were just a wee company. they immediately trusted us and hired us to design and oversee their wedding. it was a really fun process because they are a great couple that really care about one another. we saw them through a new home and a puppy while planning their wedding and we always joke that we'll have to meet their children one day.
i think we can all say that this past may turned out to be a perfect day for everyone involved. a big congrats to them both and for more photos check out their feature on dog n' bird today! photography by jim altieri.
the adorable bride and groom at the henry bendel mansion, a terrific CT venue.
the couple wanted to incorporate both modern and vintage elements in their design concept. we chose modern white square plates and paired them with bold flowers, succulents and greenery in vintage tins.
a lemonade stand was set up for guests to enjoy after the ceremony
her bouquet was designed with peonies, astrantia, and gorgeous oregano!

From Russia with Love

While on a trip to Russia I came across a custom they have there. On the day of their wedding, couples attach a padlock with their initials on it to metal trees that are located on bridges in the city. Then they throw the key away into the river!

crayola & chalkboards

if either juliet or myself ever get married, we both agree that it will be a fun affair. little else will matter as long as it is playful and fun! our latest shoot from "outside the flowerbox" on brooklyn bride allowed us to accomplish just this very goal. we teamed up with jen huang photography and melangerie for a vintage school house inspired shoot. it was more than fun and of course a bit playful too!
check out brooklyn bride today for the full post!

stunning trash

there are inevitably always some flowers left over after every wedding. i am ashamed to admit i don't always put them to the best of use, but this time around i did! i made this arrangement for my boyfriend's family last week and everyone really enjoyed it as we ate a delicious meal.

something blue.

our lovely bride from this past saturday, emily, chose to make her something blue her bouquet and we really had fun designing it for her! we chose hydrangea, cornflower, nigella, delphinium, and a touch of muscari.
emily's centerpieces were housed in antique mercury glass vases. we paired these vibrant pink dahlias with ranunculus, garden roses, a touch of blue nigella and rose hips. the dahlias are really starting to look fantastic as they come into their true season.
lastly, we never forget the groom! his boutonniere was made with nigella, cornflower, and rose hips especially for him.

p&p does kew... part one

California Poppy at Kew
Recently I (Juliet) was lucky enough to venture to London! While I was there I went to the wonderful Kew Gardens. It was my first visit to the gardens and I was almost giddy with delight as we toured the over 300 acres (my feet were less than happy by the end of the day). I couldn't resist sharing some of my favorite flowers with all of you!

A gigantic thistle!

This one was really special. It's a dahlia and the leaves really were black! One of the gardeners told me the variety is named after one of my favorite candies... Twinings After Eights.

More to come from kew and beyond...

marigolds!

this past weekend we designed an indian jewish wedding at guastavinos. if you don't know this venue, it is inccredible. it's located under the queensborough bridge and the architecture is so beautiful. the feature of our design was a chuppah-esque structure that was situated under the arch of the bridge. we covered it in strung orange marigolds.

hitched at the new leaf cafe

a few weeks ago we designed flowers for a lovely wedding at the new leaf cafe. if you're looking for an intimate venue you must check this one out. for the arrangements we used dahlias, purple basil, nigella pods, veronica, unripened blackberry, and delicate bits of hydrangea.
