Swanky Swigs

Yesterday, Sierra and I ventured outside of the city to find vintage wares for our upcoming events. While we are extremely focused on the job at at hand, it is sometimes hard to resist things we come across in our travels that are more for personal use than professional. Enter 'Swanky Swigs.' These cute little juice(I use them for wine too) glasses caught my eye. On further inquiry I found out that they have a fun history. These glasses are called Swanky Swigs by collectors. Beginning in the Depression-era and continuing into the late 50's these little glasses were packed with Kraft cheese products and then kept as glasses. There is a plethora of different designs. I am particularly fond of the floral ones, of course, and can't wait to use them at my next dinner party.

The Art of Eating

photo from Hamptons Magazine

Last weekend we had the pleasure of working with The Art of Eating team at a wedding in the Northfork. The wedding was held at Bedell Cellars (one of our all time favorite spots) and it couldn't have been a more enchanting day. We were especialy blown away when we saw all of the delicacies coming out of the kitchen. From individual jars of pickled veggies on every table to the gorgeous beet carpaccio served family style, it was definitely a meal fit for some serious foodies (like our fabulous bride and groom). Based in Amagansett, Cheryl Stair(the owner of The Art of Eating) is a true master of the locavore, slow food movement. We can't wait to work with her and her team again and this time we'll know to beg for a vendor meal.

we heart bowen & co

last night we helped our new friends at bowen & co celebrate the launch of their wedding division with some flowers and of course a little bubbly. the owner, david, has been in the industry for a long time and produces wonderful events such as the james beard awards, which we were so lucky to work with him on this year. we're beyond excited that they'll be adding weddings to their lineup and hope to see a lot more of them in the coming years.
cheers!

Fragrance to Go!

With the travel security measures getting stricter and bag allowances getting smaller how's a girl supposed to be a jetsetter and still look and feel glam. Over here at p&p we are big fans of all things floral and fragrant and so we have vetted a few carry-on approved, pint sized perfumes for you . My personal favorite is Kai (see above). It's a gorgeous mixture of white flowers like gardenia and jasmine! Love it!

Another favorite is this solid perfume from Tokyo Rose. It's scented with Linden and honey rose for a subtle scent, perfect for a day at the beach or a summer soiree.

And last but not least, Tocca's solid version of the 'Stella' scent is to die for. The candle is my absolute favorite (the most amazing blood orange fragrance) and the perfume is just as nice!

fresh veggies!

yesterday we found ourselves at one of our favorite places in the city, the bowery hotel. unfortunately we didn't get to have a tasty cocktail while we were there, but we did set up a pretty tablescape.
we've been searching high and low for some of the richest aubergine veg, fresh herbs, and delicate florets to compliment this arrangement. there are radishes, artichokes, white & purple eggplant, alliums, sage, oregano, blackberries, and even a few potatoes in the runner!
(forgive my less than perfect iphone pic)

new york city is experiencing a serious heat wave right now! we can only hope that these crazy temps will come down for this weekend's festivities.
all of this summer weather is making us want to use all bright and cheery flowers. last weekend's wedding at the prospect park boathouse was just that! vibrant coral charm peonies, juliet garden roses, herbs, thistle and a few other little elements were tucked in these summery garden inspired arrangements.
more to come soon...

romance at the foundry

a few weeks ago we designed a wedding at the foundry (best venue ever!) for my soon to be sister in law's cousin who we just adore and love to pieces. kara had a great vision for the day and even though it poured for the two days leading up to the wedding and most of the actual day, it was a happy and joyful day all around!
kara & marko, her now hubby, had dated for 9 years! yes, that is right 9 years! the best man joked during his speech that when he heard they were engaged he thought to himself "aren't you already married?!"
even though they'd been together for almost a decade, she still wanted some romance in the big day. the decor and flowers were all very feminine, romantic, and soft which contrasted really nicely with the industrial, urban setting of the foundry.
i thought this photo snapped by angelica glass of kara and her dad walking down the aisle was just the sweetest. can't wait to share more!
