we love color, design, and off beat eccentric gifts. so does paper trail! located in the village of rhinebeck in new york's hudson valley this adorable online and retail store has a little something for everyone. here are a few of my favorites...

do you know your scent?

finding the right perfume can be quite the daunting task. nothing ever seems to be exactly what i want. when i came across le labo i immediately fell in love with the idea of creating your very own scent that is specific to you. make sure to check out their website because its adorable, but more importantly book a space for yourself in their first mondays class. each class is led by anne mclain, a graduate of france's grasse institute of perfumery. she makes small batches of her own frangrance in a brooklyn laboratory.

all of the perfume’s proceeds go toward building the humanitypPerfume fountain, which is a public art project that will be installed this summer in greenpoint’s mcgolrick park for six months.

i heart smile booths.

last night we all headed over to urban wed and had a blast. the vendors were superb. from a gorgeous and creative floral and event design by hatch creative studio to samuelle couture's stunning bridal gowns, the entire event was lovely. probably our favorite feature was the smile booth courtesy of whisker works. check out our many trips to the booth below.

it's open!

a few weeks ago i shared my story about my amazing experience at abc kitchen's friends and family night. now you can enjoy their organic locally sourced menu and delicious refreshments too! the interior is reason enough for me to go back. believe me...i plan on doing so very soon!

we were lucky enough to have makeup artist, lauren napier, work with us yesterday at our photo shoot. not only is she amazingly talented she is such a sweetheart. having your make up done by her would be so much fun on your wedding day or special occasion.

i haven't had the pleasure of experiencing the goodies baked up by sarah magid myself, but plan to very very soon. i keep hearing rave reviews and honestly the bird nest cake below sold me. sarah is an organic baker based in brooklyn, ny. she creates the most beautiful and tasty treats for special occasions.

2010 calendar

one of our all time favorites is twobrunettes. their paper goods are always scrumptious and here are a few things that are no exception.

in the middle of a monsoon/hurricane rainstorm here in nyc on saturday, 20 or so amazing designers, bloggers, photographers, and chefs trekked out to join us for a little afternoon soiree. the goal was to meet and introduce fantastic nyc based small business owners to one another. ultimately we hoped to begin building a network of like minded creative people here in this wonderful city.
here is a peek into our day...

juliet and i designed these bouquets saturday morning for our photo shoot with jen huang. the flowers (poppies) pretty much speak for themselves.

everyone dropped a card in each of the tins when they came out. on the way out each guest took a tin home with everyone's business cards.

i found this gorgeous handmade flower on etsy wedding this morning and fell instantly in love. check out etsy's entire post for more of jenn of mignonne's lovely creations and vintage finds. you may even be the lucky winner of this yummy creation.

cheese and flowers.

last week we did an event for boston university's showcase night here in nyc. we did the same event for them last year, but switched up the design a bit. this year, stuart & welch catering helped us put together the most beautiful cheese/fruit platters. we got all of the cheese from murray's, which always drops off the most delicious variety. for flowers, we did simple instillation pieces constructed from moss and small groupings of flowers.

costa ricaaaaa

the most magical vine that ever did exist is in domincal, costa rica.

unfortunately not even the locals could tell us what the name of it is, but they did tell us that it only blooms once every two years! the blooms only stay on the vine for about two days before they fall off onto the driveway. it was so special that we got to see it.

down the drive from our mystery vine was our open air yoga studio! yep, it was amazing and could relax the best of them.
